Tamora Pierce
[edit]In media/popular culture section, could add the world of Tortall created by Tamora Pierce in her many book series.
She has the three fold goddess as one of the main deities 137.207.232.214 (talk) 18:15, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- If she started publishing in 1983, then she could not have had influence on the formation of the neopagan Triple Goddess concept, which is what this article is most interested in. A link could probably be added near the bottom... AnonMoos (talk) 00:53, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]As has been discussed at length in the talk page archives (linked above):
- 1)The Triple Goddess is not a Wiccan-specific concept (not invented by Wiccans, not found in Gardner's writings, not venerated by Wiccans only), so specifying "The Horned God" as consort is inappropriate for this article.
- 2)The crescent-full-moon-decrescent symbol is prominent now, but has a somewhat unclear origin, and if it existed before 1950, it was very obscure at that time, so it may not be suitable to be included at the top of the article.
I doubt whether the infobox adds anything to the article at all, but I'm not deleting it right now... AnonMoos (talk) 01:34, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
- P.S. According to Robert Graves' own theology, the consorts of the Triple Goddess are the rival twin demigods (the star-god of the first half of the year and the serpent-god of the second half of the year -- see Holly King and Oak King for related concepts), not "the horned god"... Symbols for the Triple Goddess
[edit]The infobox on the page makes mention of three iterations of symbols for the triple goddess. The one for modern is clearly accurate, but the first two seem to have no depiction that I can find online anywhere. Since these are not cited, perhaps someone would have better luck locating citations for the two descriptions below:
Crescent, full, and dark moon (original) Crescent, half, and full moon (late Antiquity) 71.85.97.222 (talk) 05:58, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
Symbol in the infobox
[edit]The infobox of Triple Goddess is quite similar to her consort Horned God, which has the symbol in the infobox. Similarly, a symbol could be added in the infobox of this article. AimanAbir18plus (talk) 13:55, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Look at the "01:34, 30 November 2022" comment in the Infobox section directly above on this page. These points have been discussed at greater length in various of the article talk page archives. AnonMoos (talk) 00:17, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Then, what about Horned God? AimanAbir18plus (talk) 05:30, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
